Twinkle, twinkle, little flame

Screenshot 2017-08-28 at 13.09.50.pngAs they stood there silently in the darkness, neither of them could have imagined what would happen next. They had found the lantern by chance as they were scouring the streets looking for food. Lying on the cobbled street, waiting to be found, the lantern burnt through the dim light of evening. The boys held it in their hands, watching the orange flame flicker in the breeze.
Without warning, the flame disappeared, as did the two boys!
When the flame reappeared, the boys could not believe where they were.
They were in a dark dark place and they were scared. Someone popped out of nowhere and gave them a big fright.
It was a person that had nothing to eat he was so poor he only had $1. He was nice and he was a bit old or should I say a lot old. He didn't have a house he lived in the bushes it was really sad we just felt like helping him but we couldn't we had no money. There was no one else but him. Then the flame came back then we were back then we saw our mum and dad

then they lived happily ever after.

  1. Wow Shavarna, this writing has blown my mind! Your introduction is amazing! "As they stood silently" just gave me shivers!
This reminds me of the BFG when he first appears. I wonder if the children ever thought about that old man again?
I am wondering what they did with the lantern after that? Did they share this story with anyone? Maybe you could add in to the story as it seems to end quite suddenly?

  2. Hello Shavarna, what a fantastic writing piece! Your story starter was something like no other, what a way to hook a reader in to your writing. This reminds me of a movie I watched once, the Book Theif, the setting is very similar. I cannot wait to see more of your fantastic writing pieces. Miss Sutherland
